Ever-green and ever-blooming island with a scent of tea? Yes – the Azores!

Would you like to visit New Zealand but it’s too far away for you? Go to the Azores and you will experience the small version of New Zealand’s nature where, on top of everything, you can relax any time of the year!

The Azores offer a pleasant warm climate all year round with the winter temperatures hovering around 20 °C (68°F), with a few showers, and summer temperatures around 25-30 °C (77-86 °F), and what is even better, they do not get overcrowded by tourists.

Sao Miguel is the largest of the nine Azores islands and it features several volcanoes with their peaks hidden in clouds, volcanic lakes such as Lagoa Azul, Lagoa das Furnas, and Lagoa Verde, waterfalls like Salto do Prego and a beautiful rugged coastline. The Hydrangeas and other local flowers are of such a size, which you will never see in your own garden.

The landscape is decorated with the typical local architecture of houses built from lava stones and white churches with grey lining. Our Fripito photoguide also includes picturesque towns such as Ponta Delgada, Ribeira Grande, Nordeste, or Capelas. The rich volcanic soil is perfect for growing wine, bananas, pineapples, and especially tea. Besides the tea plantations, you can also learn about the tea production and taste some of the local specialties. If you like adrenaline, go snorkeling, whale watching or visit the wild bull fights, which are popular in the Azores as much as in Spain.
